A brief history

2025 is our 103rd year on the ISU campus
Theta Chi Fraternity was founded in 1856 on the principle of friendship through the mutual assistance of every member
The Alpha Mu chapter was established at ISU in 1922, and has operated continuously on campus since our founding
We have more than 1,400 initiates and 800 living alumni
The original chapter house at 219 Ash Ave burned in 1996, and was rebuilt through the generosity of our alumni in 1999

Our motto is "An Assisting Hand"
We believe our members share a lifelong responsibility to be active participants in campus affairs and their local communities
Our recent community activities have focused on sexual assault awareness, and fundraisers to benefit the USO
We have a dry (alcohol-free) facility
All members are expected to live by high moral values, including having regard for all people as being worthy of respect

Built in 1999, our house is one of the newer fraternity facilities on campus. Amenities include:

New for 2025 - Renovated 2nd and 3rd floor bathrooms, new study room windows
New for 2024 - Renovated board room and group study spaces with state-of-the-art collaboration technology
New for 2024 - New individual member study room desks, chairs, and bookshelves
3 story chapter house with walkout basement
18 shared study rooms with capacity for 39 to 44 members
2 group study rooms, computer lab, and color laser printer
Cold-air style sleeping dormitories
Central air conditioning
Live-in advisor suite
Common areas include three group study spaces, living room, recreation & fitness area, and TV/media area
Sand volleyball court with brick patio area
Dedicated off-street parking
